News – September 4th 2009 – The Hill-SideSunday, September 6th, 2009The Hill-Side take a tough, working man’s approach to neckwear, Their ties & handkerchiefs are not fancy or fragile, they are not merely decorative, nor are they status symbols, but are meant to be worn hard, every day, and thus gain character with each use. Using materials that are not commonly associated with neckwear : selvedge chambray, left hand twill & waxed cotton. Quaker Marine Supply Co.Sunday, June 14th, 2009Came across this company when a close freind returned from an estate sale wearing one on his head & we decided on the spot that we had to get them for C’H'C’M’. Nice & simple with some real working details. There are 3 styles, firstly the ‘Classic sailing & Tennis hat‘ in a soft cotton twill – this will look better with use as you adjust & shape it to suit your personal style, can be crushed up, thrown into the bottom of your bag & pulled out in times of need, has a nice navy underbrim that helps absorb reflected light. The ‘Swordfish Cap’ is in a heavy canvas with a real long bill that can be worked & shaped to your preference. The extra long bill as well as the green underbrim really help keep you in the shade. Lastly, the ‘Casco Bay’ hat, in a rigid 11oz natural canvas. Underside of the brim is in green & can be turned up either side & snap fastened to stay put. All the hardware is in brass which creates a great contrast on the canvas. Look out for some ‘made in Japan’ workshirts coming in over the next couple of weeks. |
